the sun rises each morning obliterating the darkness in its wake- finding the seas have moved on

the parched earth now wet from the touch of night now dreads the heat that brings an unquenchable thirst

but they stand stoic and bear its brunt

yesterday I considered stitching my eyes closed- figured I could ignore the hourglass and its sands

so in experiment I bandaged them, defying the mischievous light to show his face

true to his word, the sun rose and shone bright and red

and my room bloomed warm, wet and uncomfortable

so I waited for an earthquake to rouse me from my temporary sanity

just a nagging though won’t leave me alone

‘Life goes on whether or not you take part in its unfolding.’
